This year’s Out of the Box Festival (10-15 June 2008) for 3-8 year olds featured ACTF Animated workshops using the recently launched Kahootz 3. More than 600 children played with Kahootz 3, making their own 3-D animations. The very popular biannual event expanded across Brisbane’s Southbank cultural precinct attracting more than 60,000 people.

A highlight of the festival was the short animated film that Year 3 students from the ACTF Queensland Advisory Schools, Macgregor SS and Holland Park SS worked on with animation artist Terry Oberg using Kahootz 3. The themes of the short films are When I grow up and Real and imaginary places. They incorporate the creative imaginations and ideas of these students. It received high praise from all who visited the screening at the Queensland Art Gallery.

The daily Animated workshops hosted by the ACTF were supported by Sony and Griffith University. Go to the ACTF website to view the animated film. Workshop presenters included Peter Maggs, Terry Oberg, Jane Osbourne and Deborah Cohen.
