The ACTF Resource Centre is a public access centre, holding over 3,000 items on topics related to children, young people and the media. The holdings can be searched online. The collection includes books, journals, kits, videos and clippings from daily Australian newspapers. There are television and film industry journals and resources on media production. Selected bibliographies are compiled on particular subjects and updated regularly.

 
    The collection covers:
 
   
  • The role of the media in society.

  • The effects of the media on children and young people.

  • The regulation of the media to protect children, particularly Australian regulation.

  • The history of media, particularly children’s television and film in Australia.

  • The links between media violence and anti-social behaviour in real life.

  • Children’s leisure activities, play and toys.
