The BBC has acquired the award-winning live action children’s series Little Lunch.
The comedy mockumentary series from Australian production powerhouse Gristmill is now available to viewers to stream on BBC iPlayer and airing on CBBC across the UK.
It is the first time BBC Children’s and Education has had the rights to the hugely popular series, in which each self-contained episode takes place during 15 highly significant minutes of a child’s life: snack time in the primary school playground.
Little Lunch has been lauded across the world where it has screened in over 100 territories and been translated into several languages, winning awards across the globe, including AACTA and TV Week Logie Awards in Australia, a Chicago International Children’s Film Festival prize, the Japan Prize and the Prix Jeunesse International Festival.
Australian Children’s Television Foundation Head of Content Bernadette O’Mahony said: “Little Lunch is a truly unique series. Year on year, it captures audiences’ hearts across the world; its humour and relatability are universal and loved by children and their parents alike. The fact that it is now with the BBC for all children across the UK to enjoy on BBC and iPlayer is very exciting.”
